Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 9, 2026
doublechin is a private dual-camera video diary for two paired people. This policy explains what we collect, why, how we handle user content, and your choices.
What we collect
- Account info: your email address, securely hashed password, display name, and account identifier.
- Content you create: short front- and back-camera video clips, audio in those clips, optional reactions, safety/support reports, profile photos, and song choices.
- Settings: timezone, invite/pairing state, optional reunion date, notification preferences, legal-consent records, and app preferences.
- Optional location: if you tap "Use current location" for timezone setup, iOS may share your current location with the app. We request city-level accuracy, use it only to suggest a timezone, and do not store your coordinates or location history.
- Purchase state: Apple subscription entitlement and transaction state so the app can unlock Triple Chin features, restore purchases, and prevent duplicate access problems.
- Diagnostics: limited error information, device/app context, and support details if needed to troubleshoot app problems or protect the service.
What we do not do
- We do not sell personal data.
- We do not use third-party advertising SDKs.
- We do not use your data to track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.
- We do not access your contacts.
- We do not continuously track your location or store your coordinates. Location is optional and used only if you request timezone detection.
How we use data
We use data for app functionality: creating your account, pairing you with your partner, storing and showing private couple clips, generating reels, restoring purchases, suggesting your timezone when requested, handling safety reports, protecting users, and providing support.
Storage and sharing
Account data, clips, reports, and app records are stored with Supabase. Apple processes in-app purchases and subscription status. Deezer may provide song search results and previews when you use music features. Your clips are visible in the app only to you and your paired partner, except where access is needed to provide, protect, moderate, troubleshoot, or comply with legal obligations for the service. There is no public feed. If you or your partner export or share a compilation, it leaves the app and we cannot control what the recipient does with it.
You are responsible for having the rights and consent needed to record, upload, share, or export content, including consent from anyone who appears or is heard.
We use service providers only as needed to run the app, process purchases, host content, troubleshoot issues, or respond to safety and legal requests.
Where your data is stored and international transfer
doublechin's database and your video clips are stored on Supabase infrastructure located in the United States (US-East-1). If you or your partner use the app from outside the United States — including mainland China — your account information, settings, videos, audio, reports, app activity, optional location used for timezone setup, and other content you create are transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States. Because doublechin is for two people in different places, both partners' content is stored together in the same US region so you can each reach it. We ask for your explicit consent to this cross-border transfer and to the processing of your video and audio (which can be sensitive personal information) when you create your account, and you can withdraw it by deleting your account. If you are in a jurisdiction with cross-border data rules (for example China's PIPL or the EU/UK GDPR), this transfer is carried out on the basis of your consent.
User content and safety
doublechin is invite-only and limited to one paired partner at a time. You can report safety, privacy, or content concerns in the app or by email. Reports may include your account information, the reported person's account information, report text, and clip metadata or content needed to evaluate the report. We aim to review reports promptly and may remove content, disconnect a pair, preserve evidence, report serious safety issues where required or permitted by law, or terminate accounts that violate our Terms. You can also block future access by using Block / unpair partner in Settings.
Your choices and rights
- Delete account: open Settings, then Account, then Delete account. This deletes your active account/profile records and starts cleanup of your stored media. Apple subscriptions must be managed or canceled through your Apple Account settings.
- Block / unpair: open Settings, then Account, then Block / unpair partner. This disconnects the pair and prevents that partner from seeing future content through your account.
- Support/privacy requests: email joshdirga@gmail.com.
Retention
We keep account and content data while your account is active and as needed to provide the app. When you delete your account or unpair, active database records for the affected account or couple are removed where possible, and media files are queued for background deletion. Some records may be retained for a limited period where required for security, safety reports, legal compliance, billing, backups, or dispute handling.
Children
doublechin is not directed to children or teenagers under 18. You must be at least 18 years old to use the app. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we may delete the account and associated content.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected here with a new date.
